Bright lemon yellow. Multilayered scent of pink grapefruit, wild strawberry and rock candy. Juicy and creamy on the palate, quite soft acidity, but by no means too less. Very good length.

Light greyish yellow. Initially completely closed nose and also on the palate supposedly without a clear definition. But after a longer air supply the incomprehensible happens: The dry Riesling from the Bopparder Hamm Ohlenberg comes to life and suddenly shows clear contours and a very typical aromatics with ripe, tropical-sounding fruit. The wine is light and delicate on the palate. A picture book Kabinett. Serious and delicate, vinified “without tinsel”. Good length.

The colour spectrum ranges from medium lemon yellow to light straw yellow. Although the class of the wine can already be guessed on the first day, it only shows its full potential after 24 hours. This does not mean that everything can be discovered with just one sip. Because this chameleon plays with the taster “hare and hedgehog”, new facets open up again and again. Sometimes it's the floral components that push themselves into the foreground and evoke memories of white flowers, shortly afterwards a green and herbaceous note demands attention. Then again it is the expansive, tropical fruit that lines the mouth and seems to tolerate nothing else next to it, until a very fine, harmonious acid dares to come out of its hiding place and once again shuffles all the cards anew. No question about it, Florian Weingart's dry Spätlese “Am Weißen Wacke” is a masterpiece that, in my opinion, is one of the (few) really great dry Rieslings of the vintage 2018 in Germany.

Straw yellow with golden accents. At first in the nose still with a lot of carbonic acid, yellow fleshy aromas and a rather broad base. With a few hours of air the picture changes permanently. The nose becomes much more subtle and complex, even more focused. In the mouth it has a creamy fruitiness and an excellent balance between harmonious acidity and fine sweetness. Over time it develops into one of the most beautiful Rieslings of the vintage, probably also beyond the Mittelrhein region. Very long. Requires time.

Bright straw yellow with golden reflections. Opulent bouquet with yellow fleshy aromas which already suggests a creamy consistency of the wine in the mouth. There, too, with a breathtaking fullness that unites everything that makes a monumental Spätlese: fruit, a fine, excellently balanced acidity, delicate sweetness, floral notes. A Riesling with off-dry taste, excellent length and a herbaceous echo.

Light white gold. In the nose vegetable spice, fine mandarin, some mint. Slim late harvest type, on the palate with invigorating sweetness and creamy fruit base. Soft acidity, well balanced, but still underdeveloped. Absolutely needs time. Very good length.

Harvested in the night of January 21, 2019. Pure white gold. In the nose honey and a clearly focused grapefruit aroma. Mature acidity, excellently integrated in creamy fruit fullness and balanced with the sweetness. Outstanding length. In spite of the late harvest typical for ice wine and hardly recognizable Botrytis.

🯅The rating of the wine is based on a single taster. The taster is named in the context of the rating. The tasting was either open or blind. In case of a blind tasting, it is explicitly labelled as such.
🯅🯅The rating of the wine is based on two tasters. The tasters are named in the context of the rating. The tasting was carried out according to the four-eyes principle, in which both tasters agree on a joint rating.
🯅🯅🯅The rating is based on a tasting by our jury and indicates the Mean value calculated by us from the individual ratings of the tasters. Our mean value is based on the median.
The wine was evaluated in a blind tasting. We have strict rules for blind tastings. The tasters do not receive any information that would allow them to identify the wines. The tasters are only given access to further information that goes beyond the subject matter if it is absolutely necessary for understanding the wines.
🕓We only had limited time to taste the wine  - typically during an open tasting event, such as a wine fair. It was therefore not possible to observe the development of the wine in the glass over a longer period of time. The informative value of our rating may therefore be limited under certain circumstances.
The wine was tasted as a barrel sample or before an official test number (Amtliche Prüfungsnummer or Staatliche Prüfnummer) was issued. We only accept samples of unfilled wines in exceptional cases, and then only if we can assume sufficient stability in the bottle for a period of at least three months.
During our tasting, the wine showed conspicuous sensory characteristics. This does not necessarily have to be a wine fault. We categorise the quality and quantity of the abnormality and include it in the rating. Wine faults such as cork taint or an atypical ageing generally lead to a complete rejection.
Tastings that refer to the same bottle of a wine are visually summarised by a dotted line.
