Light white gold. Fine spicy scent of highly ripe cantaloupe melon with hints of liquorice. Powerful Silvaner, which packs its 14 % vol alcohol well and, in its own way, has a certain elegance, although in the mouth besides the fruity aromas the liquorice already perceptible in the nose plays a little in the foreground. Ultimately, however, it is an extremely harmonious composition that adds a crown to a successful 2012 vintage collection at Wirsching. Delicate acidity, uncompromisingly dry and with vegetable spice in the long finish.

Lemon yellow with white golden reflections. Partly of tertiary aromas, partly of Petrol superimposed gypsum keuper bouquet with soft hints of peach. Filigree and complex, deep interplay of aromas. Has a lighter weight than the analytics suggests. Vibrant acidity meets fine extract sweetness and subtle spiciness. Very good length and sustainability.

Citrus yellow. Initially an extremely straightforward scent of melon and green apple. After more than an hour of air contact, the spectrum of aromas shifts towards a rather broad bouquet marked by yellow apple. A multi-layered varieté of flavours in which the fruit aromas typical of the grape variety are harmoniously combined with the earthy notes of the gypsum/keuper soil. Moderate acidity, excellent depth and excellent length.

Bright straw yellow. Fine, still very reserved tertiary aromas with ripe aromas of cantaloupe melon. Powerful attack on the tongue. On the palate subtle herbal spice and fine creaminess. Still very fresh and lively. In direct current comparison with the other dry Kabinett wines of the vintage (Silvaner from the Iphöfer Kronsberg and Riesling from the Julius-Echter-Berg), it is in somewhat better shape. Excellent maturity development. Very good length and sustainability.

Reflective lemon yellow. Fine spicy fragrance with a subtle ethereal component. In the nose aromas of ripe cantaloupe melon. Shows on the tongue creamy and an excellent balance between very reserved acidity and harmonious sweetness. The analytics may say something else, but the wine does not appear consistently “extra dry”. A circumstance that is probably less due to extract sweetness than to the noticeable high physiological ripeness of the grapes. In the long and lasting finish again with a light, unobtrusive spice. In the vintage context of the Wirsching winery this Kabinett falls a bit out of line. He is much more elegant and finer than its more muscular counterparts from the Iphöfer Kalb and the Julius-Echter-Berg.

Greenish straw yellow. Fine, harmonious melon scent underpinned by subtle tertiary ripeness and flint. On the tongue green-herbal and spicy, creamy fullness, again with melon, but beside that also flavours of ripe Conference pear. Ripe, rather soft and elegant acidity. Excellent length.

Greenish straw yellow. Fulminant melon scent with a slight flinty note. Strong body with slightly warming, but otherwise neatly integrated alcohol. Creamy fruitiness, elegant acidity, fine spiciness, great length.

Greenish shimmering white gold. Unobtrusive aroma with subtle fruit mix of lime, melon, carambola and grapefruit. Powerful and punchy on the palate, with superbly integrated alcohol. Tastes very dry and shows an almost perfect balance between moderate acidity and sweetness, which probably comes primarily from the alcohol. In the long finish good tension between fine, appealing slight bitterness and pronounced grapefruit note. Great length. Currently in excellent condition.

Selection from old Burgundy clones. Slightly clouded garnet to cherry red with medium transparency. In the bouquet fine, elegant roasted aromas with hints of smoked bacon and light red berries. Spicy opening on the palate, high fruit intensity and velvety coarse-grained tannins. Expressive and inviting, with excellent length and potential for many more years.

Bright, light straw yellow. Dominated by pronounced tobacco notes, herbaceous nose with initially only delicate hints of fruit that, with a little air, clearly tends towards yellow apple. Surprisingly well able to withstand the 13 % vol alcohol, which is a little daring for a Kabinett. But this is obviously a Spätlese in disguise anyway. Powerful, expressive and full of character, uncompromisingly dry taste, harmoniously integrated acidity, extremely present minerality, very good length. The bottle should be opened one hour before drinking.

Bright, light straw yellow. Quite well-balanced aroma with flinty, red berry undertones, underpinned by fine plant and floral notes. Very discreet fruit aromas, which only reveal themselves in the mouth as peach pits, more generally: pome fruit. In addition, delicate hints of tobacco. With 12.5 % vol alcohol, not a lightweight, but nevertheless surprisingly light-hearted and seems to glide over the tongue with a certain elegance, as if on a cushion of air, in spite of its definitely existing muscles. Ripe acidity, spicy and expressive on the palate, vegetal dominated finish, very good length and persistence.

Bright straw yellow. Somewhat introverted, vegetal nose with predominantly non-specific yellow fruity stone and stone fruit aromas. Next to it more distinct hints of peach pit. The alcohol is slightly prominent. Otherwise, the “S” shows its origin from one of the best vineyards in Franconia. On the one hand spicy and herbal, on the other hand with the typical delicacy of the Julius-Echter-Berg. Very good length.

Full lemon yellow. Aroma of melon with hints of tobacco, marked by high grape ripeness. In the mouth with a powerful attack. Warming but otherwise well integrated alcohol. Well balanced, spicy minerality, very dry on the palate, hints of extract sweetness on the long finish. Excellent persistence. Exemplary Franconian Silvaner with style and character.

🯅The rating of the wine is based on a single taster. The taster is named in the context of the rating. The tasting was either open or blind. In case of a blind tasting, it is explicitly labelled as such.
🯅🯅The rating of the wine is based on two tasters. The tasters are named in the context of the rating. The tasting was carried out according to the four-eyes principle, in which both tasters agree on a joint rating.
🯅🯅🯅The rating is based on a tasting by our jury and indicates the Mean value calculated by us from the individual ratings of the tasters. Our mean value is based on the median.
The wine was evaluated in a blind tasting. We have strict rules for blind tastings. The tasters do not receive any information that would allow them to identify the wines. The tasters are only given access to further information that goes beyond the subject matter if it is absolutely necessary for understanding the wines.
🕓We only had limited time to taste the wine  - typically during an open tasting event, such as a wine fair. It was therefore not possible to observe the development of the wine in the glass over a longer period of time. The informative value of our rating may therefore be limited under certain circumstances.
The wine was tasted as a barrel sample or before an official test number (Amtliche Prüfungsnummer or Staatliche Prüfnummer) was issued. We only accept samples of unfilled wines in exceptional cases, and then only if we can assume sufficient stability in the bottle for a period of at least three months.
During our tasting, the wine showed conspicuous sensory characteristics. This does not necessarily have to be a wine fault. We categorise the quality and quantity of the abnormality and include it in the rating. Wine faults such as cork taint or an atypical ageing generally lead to a complete rejection.
Tastings that refer to the same bottle of a wine are visually summarised by a dotted line.
