Greenish straw yellow. Spicy, greenish-herbaceous bouquet dominated by secondary aromas with soft yellow-fruity hints and an ethereal component. The aroma can also be perceived on the palate, but in an almost extreme and penetrating way. Whatever can be subsumed under the term minerality: Here it can be found. What is still unsettling at the first sip becomes increasingly clear and transparent. Supported by a mature, well integrated, but at the same time piquant acidity, Uli Metzger's top Riesling captivates with uncompromising purism as well as precision. Excellent length.

Lightly clouded cherry garnet red. Still new woody bouquet with a fine raspberry scent. Slim Pinot type, which still has to find its inner balance. Vital and pronounced acidity, sandy tannins, clear wood spice, very good length. Requires a lot of air and should mature for at least five more years.

Medium transparency. Garnet red in colour. Elegant, only moderately woody-spicy and delicately ethereal aroma with flavours of raspberry and subtle hints of blackberry. Nuances of caramel cream candy. Concentrated fruit on the palate, fine acidity and partly velvety, partly coarse-grained, altogether quite gentle tannins. Outstanding length. Should be in optimum condition at the moment.

Slightly cloudy garnet red colour with medium transparency. Woody and spicy Pinot aroma. Notes of vanilla and raspberry on the nose. Highly elegant structure. Velvety, sometimes coarse-grained tannins. Stable acidity. Hints of cocoa. Almost perfect balance. Fine spice on the palate. Excellent length.

Opaque, dark cherry to black-red colour. Partly herbal, partly woody-spicy aroma of sour cherry, raspberry and cranberry. Also very spicy on the palate and with very good substance. Despite its concentration, it also has a certain finesse and elegance. Harmonious, coarse-grained and slightly chocolaty tannins. Excellent length.

Greenish golden yellow. Multi-layered, mineral bouquet of pineapple, Williams pear, citrus and vanilla. Exotic touch. On the tongue, zesty acidity provides the aromatic guardrails for a superbly balanced, uncompromisingly dry and youthful Chardonnay. Aroma and taste act as one. Mineral spice, outstanding length.

Slightly cloudy, initially still transparent and bright, later clearly more opaque and darker garnet red. Woody aroma of blackberry, raspberry, caramel and hazelnut. Fine fruity approach. The prominent wood tannins, not integrated as expected due to bottle maturity, are partly supportive, but also counteract the elegance and raise questions. Nevertheless, a highly ambitious Pinot Noir with spice and outstanding length.

🯅The rating of the wine is based on a single taster. The taster is named in the context of the rating. The tasting was either open or blind. In case of a blind tasting, it is explicitly labelled as such.
🯅🯅The rating of the wine is based on two tasters. The tasters are named in the context of the rating. The tasting was carried out according to the four-eyes principle, in which both tasters agree on a joint rating.
🯅🯅🯅The rating is based on a tasting by our jury and indicates the Mean value calculated by us from the individual ratings of the tasters. Our mean value is based on the median.
The wine was evaluated in a blind tasting. We have strict rules for blind tastings. The tasters do not receive any information that would allow them to identify the wines. The tasters are only given access to further information that goes beyond the subject matter if it is absolutely necessary for understanding the wines.
🕓We only had limited time to taste the wine  - typically during an open tasting event, such as a wine fair. It was therefore not possible to observe the development of the wine in the glass over a longer period of time. The informative value of our rating may therefore be limited under certain circumstances.
The wine was tasted as a barrel sample or before an official test number (Amtliche Prüfungsnummer or Staatliche Prüfnummer) was issued. We only accept samples of unfilled wines in exceptional cases, and then only if we can assume sufficient stability in the bottle for a period of at least three months.
During our tasting, the wine showed conspicuous sensory characteristics. This does not necessarily have to be a wine fault. We categorise the quality and quantity of the abnormality and include it in the rating. Wine faults such as cork taint or an atypical ageing generally lead to a complete rejection.
Tastings that refer to the same bottle of a wine are visually summarised by a dotted line.
