Sparkling bright yellow. Already in the nose, there are hints of this: despite its dry flavour, there is a distinct sweetness here. The aromas are reminiscent of candied fruit, namely sun-ripened lemon and apricot, and are framed by a distinct vanilla note. In the mouth, it is clear that no fructose has been spared here. This alone would not be a problem if the excessive sweetness did not mask the contours of the wine, as it does here, causing it to lose noticeably in complexity. We recognise that Alexander Laible cannot rely solely on his skills as one of Baden's best winemakers and has to make certain compromises for commercial reasons. This is entirely legitimate. However, we also consider it our duty to question the style when we notice that very good raw material has been literally wasted in favour of mainstream compatibility with the consumption behaviour of wine-illiterate consumers. Of course, the wine is well made, and we have rated it accordingly. It has very good length, but there is a noticeable sweetness in the finish. We imagine that Alexander Laible could have made this wine truly dry with less than four grams of residual sugar. In that case, we would have rated it higher.

Deep cherry garnet colour with low transparency. Subtle vanilla Pinot Noir aromas with hints of white pepper and red berry compote. Fine toasty notes in the background. Perhaps a touch old-school, more a reminiscence of classic German Spätburgunder than the Burgundian ideal, but certainly stylish and elegant. Sandy tannins, good acidity. Very long finish.

Bright, brilliant golden green. A dry Riesling from the Ortenau region of Baden, matured in honour, which, despite its now clearly tertiary aromas, still reveals the ripe fruit that must have characterised the wine in its youth: Peach and nectarine. Holds on the tongue what the nose promises. Young fruit and progressive maturity do not contradict each other here, but enter into an almost symbiotic relationship, which gives the “Tausend Sterne” its charm. The acidity is still quite vital and very well integrated. Excellent length and sustainability. The “Tausend Sterne” has meanwhile reached its zenith.

Greenish golden yellow. Finely matured nose with aromas of melon and peach. Lively interplay of minerality, acidity and fruit in the mouth. Expressive and penetrating. In the long finish again very concise fruit, again melon is in the foreground. Excellent length and persistence.

High-colored straw yellow. Matured bouquet with tertiary aromas and still well preserved nectarine fruit covered by fine buttercream and toffee notes. On the tongue with complex spiciness, light bitterness, delicate creamy texture and well integrated, rather moderate acidity. Very long and sustainable.

High-colored straw yellow with a clear green color. Breathtaking and after five years maturity still completely intact. Typical bouquet from Scheurebe with tertiary aromas, scents of blackcurrant, currant leave, nectarine, mango, lime and mint. Fruit-based taste experience with yellow-fleshy and tropical touch, good acidity and light, pleasant astringency. Shows piquancy and spiciness. Balanced and resting in itself. Excellent length, minutes of reverberation.

Greenish straw yellow. Initially light reduction note, later, with some air, clearer and more open on the nose. Buttery melon fragrance. Fresh and invigorating. Harmonious acidity, unfortunately a little too sweet (Why?). Some mint in the finish. Very good length.

Transparent garnet red. Fine pinot scent of raspberry and raspberry seed with soft hints of forest soil, mushroom and tea leave. Coarse, balanced tannins reminiscent of dark chocolate. Spicy, with striking acidity and good fruit expression. Excellent length. Should definitely be decanted.

🯅The rating of the wine is based on a single taster. The taster is named in the context of the rating. The tasting was either open or blind. In case of a blind tasting, it is explicitly labelled as such.
🯅🯅The rating of the wine is based on two tasters. The tasters are named in the context of the rating. The tasting was carried out according to the four-eyes principle, in which both tasters agree on a joint rating.
🯅🯅🯅The rating is based on a tasting by our jury and indicates the Mean value calculated by us from the individual ratings of the tasters. Our mean value is based on the median.
The wine was evaluated in a blind tasting. We have strict rules for blind tastings. The tasters do not receive any information that would allow them to identify the wines. The tasters are only given access to further information that goes beyond the subject matter if it is absolutely necessary for understanding the wines.
🕓We only had limited time to taste the wine  - typically during an open tasting event, such as a wine fair. It was therefore not possible to observe the development of the wine in the glass over a longer period of time. The informative value of our rating may therefore be limited under certain circumstances.
The wine was tasted as a barrel sample or before an official test number (Amtliche Prüfungsnummer or Staatliche Prüfnummer) was issued. We only accept samples of unfilled wines in exceptional cases, and then only if we can assume sufficient stability in the bottle for a period of at least three months.
During our tasting, the wine showed conspicuous sensory characteristics. This does not necessarily have to be a wine fault. We categorise the quality and quantity of the abnormality and include it in the rating. Wine faults such as cork taint or an atypical ageing generally lead to a complete rejection.
Tastings that refer to the same bottle of a wine are visually summarised by a dotted line.
